The Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area is located at the forefront of China's coastal opening-up, with obvious geographical advantages and development advantages such as strong economic strength, gathering of innovative elements, and leading internationalization level. Building an international science and technology innovation center with global influence is the strategic positioning of the country for the Greater Bay Area. After more than 20 years of development, the Greater Bay Area has formed industrial clusters such as communication and electronic information industry, new energy vehicle industry, drone industry, robot industry, etc. It is an important spatial carrier for China to build world-class urban clusters and participate in global competition.
In the past five years, from the central to local levels, multiple important special plans and policy documents have been intensively issued, focusing on the overall situation and doing a good job in top-level design. According to the statistics compiled by the Greater Bay Area Office of Guangdong Province, since the release of the "Plan Outline", various levels and units have publicly released 602 policies related to the Greater Bay Area, including over 100 national policies and nearly 200 provincial-level policies, covering areas such as business environment, cooperation platforms, modern industries, technological innovation, infrastructure, and high-quality living circles.
With the support of various plans and policies, the Greater Bay Area is facing unprecedented development opportunities. It has the world's largest manufacturing base and also the world's most active financial center. At the same time, it has numerous universities, research institutions, entrepreneurial parks, and talent resources. With the strengthening of national policy support and investment in the Greater Bay Area, as well as the improvement of infrastructure construction and connectivity, the development momentum of the LED display industry is full in this context. Nowadays, multiple new display device industry clusters have gathered in the Greater Bay Area, covering specialized, refined, and innovative "little giant" enterprises. Key components, materials, and panel manufacturing equipment such as small pitch LEDs and modules have strong competitive advantages, forming an ecosystem for the integrated development of large, medium, and small LED display screen enterprises.
Meanwhile, the development of the LED display industry in the Greater Bay Area is also facing some challenges. On the one hand, homogeneous competition still exists among cities in the Greater Bay Area, such as Dongguan and Shenzhen, Zhongshan and Foshan, where the LED industry structure has a high degree of similarity, with a large number of overlapping and intersecting industrial layouts; On the other hand, the insufficient and unimpeded circulation of innovative elements still exists, and there are significant differences in the management methods of scientific research funds between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao regions. Different intellectual property laws and management systems restrict the free flow of innovative elements.
Adding magnetic attraction, constantly stimulating LED vitality
Opening up new fields and tracks, forging new driving forces and advantages, accelerating the development of new quality productivity, the modern industrial system of the Greater Bay Area is constantly improving, closely focusing on the needs of enterprise growth, optimizing policies, building platforms, and releasing the "magnetic attraction" of the near and far. In addition to policy support, the development of the new display device industry cluster in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area strategy cannot be separated from the active investment of enterprises, with obvious upstream, midstream, and downstream agglomeration. Especially in recent years, the LED industry has achieved breakthrough development in many technologies, from research on infrared broadband light source arrays and organic light-emitting diodes to perovskite LEDs, Mini LEDs, Micro LEDs, and LED display screen shapes constantly changing. From 5G in the Internet of Things to smart cities, the LED display screen industry is always constantly refreshing people's views on it.
